We are delighted to share that Shackleton Fox has been featured in the 6 May 2026 edition of Country Life magazine, with our rare pair of 1930s Lloyd Loom "Zeppelin" Armchairs appearing on pages 186 and 187 as part of the magazine's coverage of the Spring Decorative Fair.

In his weekly Arts & Antiques column, Country Life writer Huon Mallalieu highlighted a selection of exceptional pieces being offered by exhibitors at the fair. Among them was our rare pair of Lusty Lloyd Loom "Zeppelin" armchairs, described as "the most upmarket of all" within the Lloyd Loom range.
Manufactured by W. Lusty & Sons of London during the golden age of Art Deco design, these remarkable chairs represent the very pinnacle of Lloyd Loom production. Originally developed from Marshall Lloyd's innovative woven-fibre process, Lloyd Loom furniture combined lightness, strength and comfort in a way that revolutionised furniture design during the early twentieth century.
Our pair dates from the mid-1930s and is an exceptionally rare "His and Hers" graduated set, subtly differing in size while maintaining a perfectly balanced Art Deco aesthetic. Distinguished by their polished carved wooden armrests, turned legs and luxurious internal springing, they were among the most prestigious models produced by W. Lusty & Sons.
Unlike standard Lloyd Loom furniture, the Zeppelin specification featured fully sprung internal bases and individually sprung seat cushions, creating a level of comfort more commonly associated with traditional club chairs. Their elegant proportions and sophisticated engineering embody the glamour and optimism of the interwar period.

At Shackleton Fox, we have carefully reimagined these chairs with bespoke embroidered botanical linen upholstery. The delicate floral design in soft yellow and green tones provides a contemporary contrast to the rich dark patina of the original woven loom, while respecting the integrity and character of the chairs.
Being featured in Country Life is a wonderful recognition of the historical significance and enduring appeal of these exceptional armchairs. We are proud that such an important publication has chosen to highlight them among the many remarkable pieces exhibited at this year's Spring Decorative Fair.
The pair are offered for sale at £2,200 and remains a wonderful example of British Art Deco craftsmanship, innovative design and the enduring legacy of Lloyd Loom furniture.
For collectors, designers and lovers of twentieth-century decorative arts, these rare Zeppelin armchairs represent a unique opportunity to own a piece of British design history.
