Although unmarked, the quality of craftsmanship suggests British manufacture, likely from one of Sheffield’s skilled silversmiths active during the Victorian era. Originally intended as a decorative oil or mantel lamp, this piece has been sensitively converted for electric use, allowing it to serve as a stylish and functional feature in contemporary interiors.

The lamp has been professionally rewired to UK standards, PAT tested, and fitted with high-quality British components, ensuring both safety and reliability while preserving its antique character.

Condition Report

This late 19th-century silver-plated table lamp is presented in very good antique condition, with only minor signs of age-related wear, consistent with its historical use and age.

  • Silver Plating: The silver plate remains bright and well-preserved across the column, capital, and base. Some light surface marks and small areas of natural patina are visible, enhancing the lamp’s character without detracting from its aesthetic appeal. There are no significant losses or corrosion evident.

  • Structure: The fluted shaft, Corinthian capital, and stepped base are all structurally sound. The detailing remains sharp and crisp, especially in the ornate acanthus leaf decoration.

  • Conversion & Electrical: The lamp has been professionally converted from its original form—to electric use. It has been fully rewired to current UK standards, PAT tested, and fitted with high-quality British-made components.

  • Functionality: The lamp is in full working order and ready for immediate use.
