Expertly carved from wood and finished with layers of gesso and pigment, the hand features delicately rendered fingers and subtle remnants of its original paint, suggesting age and sacred use.
The stylistic simplicity and proportions may suggest origins in Southern Europe, possibly Italy or Spain, where such pieces were commonly used in Catholic religious iconography, altarpieces, or Santos figures (carved saints).
