Exceptional Neoclassical Revival Black and Gilt Tôle Columnar Table Lamp, circa 1920
A striking example of Neoclassical Revival elegance, this tall table lamp expertly captures the refined grandeur of early 19th-century design. The central columnar standard is crafted from black and gilt tôle—a material historically favoured for its lustrous, deep finish and capacity for intricate detailing.
The elongated, cylindrical body is beautifully offset by fine gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, notably the finely gadrooned waist and the stepped, circular capital and lower drum section, which feature subtle gilt banding. The lamp is grounded by a heavy, circular black marble plinth, lending both stability and a luxurious material contrast to the polished tôle and bronze.

This large cut-glass Corinthian column table lamp is in excellent overall condition. The spiral-rib glass shaft is clear and undamaged, and the gilt brass mounts display only light, sympathetic ageing. The lamp has been professionally cleaned, fully rewired, and PAT-inspected, using high-quality British-made electrical components to ensure safety and reliability. It stands securely and is ready for immediate use.
