A rare and historically significant "His and Hers" pair of "Zeppelin" Lloyd Loom armchairs, manufactured by the renowned W. Lusty & Sons of London, circa 1934. These chairs represent a pinnacle of Art Deco engineering, originally designed to meet the rigorous weight-to-strength ratios required for luxury travel aboard the great silver airships of the 1930s.
Aviation Provenance: Engineered for the golden age of airship travel, these chairs utilized a lightweight frame that sacrificed none of the structural integrity or status associated with high-end London furniture.
The "Lusty" Specification: Unlike standard loom furniture, these premium models feature fully sprung internal bases and individually sprung seat cushions, providing extraordinary "club chair" comfort.
His and Hers Graduation: A rare "graduated" set, subtly sized for a pair arrangement while maintaining a perfectly symmetrical Art Deco aesthetic.
Artisanal Reimagining: Elegantly updated with bespoke, embroidered botanical linen upholstery. The delicate floral trail in buttery yellow and verdant green provides a fresh, contemporary contrast to the rich, dark patina of the woven fibre.
Signature Detail: Features the polished wood carved armrests and turned legs that distinguish the top-tier Zeppelin models from the more common domestic ranges.
Condition Report
These chairs are in excellent vintage condition.
The loom retains a rich, original aged patina throughout. Consistent with its 1930s origin, there are minor instances of localised wear and small breaks to the weave, which do not compromise the structural integrity or the overall visual impact of the chairs
The rare internal springing and the individual seat springs have been inspected and remain fully functional, offering superior support. Newly reimagined in a high-quality, embroidered botanical linen-blend. The fabric is pristine with no wear, fading, or marks. The rich, dark stain of the loom and the polished wood of the carved armrests and turned legs show a beautiful, age-appropriate patina.
