This charming vintage yellow opaline petticoat ceiling pendant light is a striking example of mid-century lighting design, blending playful form with practical function. The shade features the classic petticoat shape, named for its soft, flared, frilled edge reminiscent of the undergarments popular in the early 20th century. This style became especially popular in the 1950s and 60s, during a time when designers embraced vibrant colors and expressive shapes to brighten post-war interiors.
The opaline glass shade showcases a beautiful sunny yellow exterior, complemented by a crisp white interior that enhances light diffusion, casting a warm and inviting glow. Its gentle curves and fluted edges bring a touch of retro charm while maintaining timeless elegance.
Recently updated, this pendant includes a newly replaced nickel gallery and chain, offering both durability and a clean, modern contrast to the vintage glass. Perfect for kitchens, hallways, or any space in need of a pop of color and mid-century flair, this pendant light is as stylish today as it was decades ago.
This vintage yellow opaline petticoat ceiling pendant light is in very good vintage condition. The opaline glass shade is free from any chips or cracks, with only subtle age-related patina and one small manufacturing flaw in the glass from the factory. The yellow exterior remains vibrant, while the white interior is clean and undamaged.
The fixture has been professionally refurbished, with a newly replaced nickel gallery and chain, both in excellent condition. Additionally, the light has been fully rewired and PAT inspected to meet UK standards.
For safety and optimal performance, it is advised that the light be installed by a qualified electrician to guarantee proper and secure installation.
