Franz Xaver Bergman (1861--1936) was an Austrian manufacturer whose Vienna workshop became famous for producing cold-painted bronze sculptures of exceptional quality. His works frequently depict animals, Orientalist subjects, humorous figures and exotic scenes, distinguished by fine casting and richly coloured hand-painted finishes. Authentic Bergman bronzes are highly collectible and often bear the distinctive \'B\' foundry mark.
