An exceptional pair of French Restauration period two-branch candelabra of Bacchanalian theme, circa 1820. These bronzes celebrate the mythic followers of Bacchus with exquisite sculptural detail. The figures are cast in a rich, dark patinated bronze, providing a striking contrast to the twin scrolling arms. These ormolu branches are beautifully chased with foliate motifs and vine leaves, terminating in campana-form urn nozzles.
The pair are raised on substantial, highly figured Sienna marble plinths.
