Bird Cage Clock

A Bird Cage Clock is an early form of longcase clock movement distinguished by its open iron framework, which resembles a bird cage when viewed from the side. Produced primarily during the seventeenth century, bird cage movements were commonly housed within simple wooden cases before the development of fully enclosed brass movements. These clocks represent some of the earliest examples of domestic clockmaking and are highly prized for their historical significance and mechanical ingenuity.
