Burr Walnut is one of the most highly prized decorative timbers used in fine cabinetmaking. Formed from abnormal growths, or burrs, on walnut trees, it displays intricate swirling grain, feathering and richly varied colouring that make every veneer unique. Burr walnut became particularly fashionable during the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco periods for luxury furniture, writing desks, cabinets and clocks, where its striking natural figure showcased the highest standards of craftsmanship.
