A Deadbeat Escapement is a precision clock mechanism developed by the English clockmaker George Graham during the early eighteenth century to improve the accuracy of pendulum clocks. Unlike earlier recoil escapements, the deadbeat escapement allows the pendulum to swing with minimal interference, reducing friction and improving timekeeping. It became widely adopted in regulator clocks, observatory clocks and high-quality domestic timepieces. *Related Terms*\ Clock Movement, Escapement, George Graham, Pendulum Clock, Regulator Clock.
