Dish Cross

A Dish Cross is a folding metal stand designed to support hot cooking pots, kettles or serving dishes, protecting tables and work surfaces from heat damage. Popular during the Georgian and Victorian periods, dish crosses were commonly made from wrought iron, brass or cast iron and often incorporated adjustable arms to accommodate vessels of varying sizes. Today they are appreciated as both practical kitchen antiques and decorative period accessories. *Related Terms*\ Brassware, Cast Iron, Kitchenalia, Trivet, Wrought Iron.
