Gas Lighting

Gas Lighting is a method of illumination using combustible gas supplied through fixed pipework to burners and light fittings. Widely adopted during the nineteenth century before the introduction of electricity, gas lighting transformed homes, public buildings and streets. Original gas lighting fixtures are now highly prized and are often sympathetically converted for modern electric use.
