Playful, unconventional and full of character, the OddBod Chair is a striking example of contemporary British furniture design, where traditional craftsmanship meets imaginative thinking.
With its unusual proportions, gently curved seat and distinctive double-lobed backrest, the OddBod has an almost animated personality. Its sculptural silhouette transforms an everyday piece of furniture into something altogether more interesting, bringing a sense of humour and individuality to contemporary interiors.
Handmade in Britain by an accomplished artisan furniture maker, the chair is constructed using carefully shaped timber and plywood components. The warm natural finish highlights the grain and layered construction of the wood, while its flowing curves and rounded edges demonstrate the thoughtful craftsmanship behind the design.
Ingenious Folding Construction
Despite its playful appearance, the OddBod is designed with practicality firmly in mind.
Its cleverly engineered folding mechanism allows the chair to collapse into a slim, compact form when not required. The shaped timber components, pivoting joints and integrated carrying handle make it convenient to move and store.
Perfect for smaller homes, occasional seating, studios or flexible living spaces, the OddBod offers an imaginative alternative to conventional folding furniture.
When unfolded, its distinctive profile creates an eye-catching piece of contemporary seating. When folded away, its compact construction demonstrates the ingenuity of the design.
British Artisan Craftsmanship
Part of our carefully selected Design-Led Furniture collection, the OddBod celebrates the creativity and individuality of independent British craftsmanship.
Each chair is handmade by the same established British artisan furniture maker whose distinctive designs combine traditional woodworking skills with an experimental approach to form and function.
The maker's furniture incorporates responsibly sourced timber and plywood, using FSC- or PEFC-certified materials and finishes specified as free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Rather than relying on conventional shapes, these designs explore the possibilities of natural materials, inventive construction and expressive forms, creating furniture that is both useful and visually engaging.
The OddBod is more than simply an occasional chair. It is a small piece of functional sculpture, designed to bring originality, craftsmanship and a touch of the unexpected into the home.
This is a new, individually handmade contemporary chair, presented in excellent condition.
The timber displays its natural grain, colour variations and distinctive plywood layering, celebrating the character of the materials used.
As an artisan-made piece, subtle variations in the wood and hand-finished details are characteristic of its individual construction.

Every item offered by Shackleton Fox is carefully inspected, prepared, and where necessary conserved within our workshop prior to sale.
As heritage craftsmen and antique specialists, we believe in preserving the authenticity and integrity of each piece. Original finishes, patina, wear, and signs of age are retained wherever possible, as these elements contribute to both character and historical significance.
When restoration, rewiring, repairs, or conservation work is required, it is undertaken sympathetically using traditional techniques and materials appropriate to the period of the piece. Our philosophy is one of careful stewardship rather than unnecessary restoration, ensuring antiques remain both functional and historically respectful.
The result is a collection of pieces that have been thoughtfully prepared, allowing future owners to enjoy them with confidence while preserving their unique story and character.
