Boulle Restoration is the specialist conservation and repair of Boulle marquetry, the intricate decorative technique combining brass, tortoiseshell and other materials developed by the French cabinetmaker André-Charles Boulle. Restoration may involve stabilising lifting veneers, repairing damaged brass inlay, replacing missing elements and conserving original finishes while preserving as much historic material as possible. Due to the complexity and rarity of genuine Boulle work, restoration should only be undertaken by experienced conservators using traditional techniques.
