A Carriage Clock is a small portable clock developed in France during the early nineteenth century for use while travelling. Typically housed within a brass case with bevelled glass panels and a folding carrying handle, carriage clocks are fitted with precision spring-driven movements, often incorporating platform escapements and striking or repeating mechanisms. Antique carriage clocks remain highly collectable for their elegant proportions, reliability and exceptional craftsmanship.
