Chrome, or chromium plating, is a protective and decorative metallic finish applied to steel, brass and other metals. Becoming particularly popular during the Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern periods, chrome offered a bright reflective surface that complemented modern design. Antique chrome is commonly found on lighting, furniture, clocks and decorative accessories from the twentieth century.
