A Hand Pump is a manually operated water pump traditionally used to draw water from wells, cisterns and underground supplies before the introduction of mains water. Antique hand pumps were commonly cast in iron with long operating handles and were found in gardens, farmyards, courtyards and country estates. Today they are highly sought after as decorative garden features and examples of historic engineering.
