Harewood is a pale natural wood that has been chemically stained to produce soft grey-green tones, particularly popular in eighteenth-century marquetry and decorative veneers. Used alongside satinwood, tulipwood and other exotic timbers, harewood created subtle colour contrasts within intricate inlaid designs. It is especially associated with fine Georgian cabinet making.
