A Casement Window is a window with one or more side-hinged opening sections that swing outward or inward. Dating back to the medieval period, casement windows became particularly common in Tudor, Elizabethan and country house architecture before the widespread adoption of sash windows. Antique casement windows often feature leaded lights, hand-blown glass and wrought iron fittings, contributing significantly to the character of historic buildings.
