Edwardian Architecture

Edwardian Architecture refers to the architectural styles that flourished during the reign of King Edward VII (1901--1910) and the years immediately afterwards. Characterised by lighter proportions than Victorian architecture, Edwardian buildings often feature red brick, white-painted timber, generous bay windows, decorative plasterwork and spacious interiors designed for modern living. The style combines traditional craftsmanship with the optimism and technological advances of the early twentieth century. *Related Terms*\ Arts & Crafts Architecture, Edwardian, English Country House, Georgian Revival, Victorian Architecture.
