Enamel Box

An Enamel Box is a small decorative container covered with vitreous enamel, traditionally used to hold snuff, jewellery, patches or other personal items. Popular throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, enamel boxes often feature hand-painted landscapes, portraits, floral designs or humorous scenes, combined with finely crafted metal mounts. Antique enamel boxes are highly collectable for their artistic decoration and exceptional craftsmanship. *Related Terms*\ Bilston Enamel, Enamel, Patch Box, Snuff Box, Trinket Box, Vitreous Enamel.
