Gadrooning is a decorative border consisting of a series of closely spaced convex ridges or fluted lobes, commonly found on silver, furniture, mirrors and architectural mouldings. Originating in Renaissance design and becoming particularly popular during the Georgian and Victorian periods, gadrooning adds texture, depth and elegance to both functional and decorative objects.
