Gasolier is a decorative ceiling light originally designed to burn gas, combining the form of a chandelier with gas-powered illumination. Popular throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods, gasoliers were produced in brass, bronze and cast iron with elaborate decorative detailing. Antique examples are frequently converted for electricity while preserving their historic appearance.
