A Gatepost Finial is a decorative ornament mounted on top of a gatepost or gate pier to enhance the appearance of an entrance. Antique finials take many forms, including stone balls, urns, pinecones, acorns, flames or sculptural figures, reflecting both classical and Gothic architectural traditions. Original examples are highly valued in architectural salvage and heritage restoration.
