Hand Waxing

Hand Waxing is the application of natural waxes, such as beeswax or microcrystalline wax, by hand to protect and nourish antique surfaces. On wooden furniture, wax enhances the grain while providing a soft, lustrous finish, while on metals it offers protection against moisture and oxidation. Hand waxing is widely used in conservation because it is both reversible and sympathetic to historic materials.
