Antique Celadon Porcelain Table Lamp

Graceful Antique Celadon Porcelain Table Lamp featuring a sleek ebony base. A timeless piece of decor that blends sophistication with historic craftsmanship.

Celadon lamps are crafted from celadon porcelain, a material renowned for its jade-like green glaze. The term "celadon" originated in Europe, inspired by a character in a 17th-century French romance who wore pale green ribbons.

Celadon porcelain has its roots in ancient China, particularly during the Tang dynasty (618–907). It gained popularity for its resemblance to jade, a highly valued material in Chinese culture. The Longquan kilns in Zhejiang province were especially famous for producing celadon wares during the Song dynasty (960–1279), and these pieces were often exported to other parts of Asia and Europe.

Celadon lamps, like other celadon items, showcase the artistry of combining iron oxide glazes with high-temperature firing techniques. This process creates the signature green hues, ranging from bluish-green to olive tones. In Europe, celadon porcelain became a luxury item, often adorned with elaborate mounts to suit Rococo interiors.
