A Burner Assembly is the complete operating unit of an oil or paraffin lamp, incorporating the burner, wick mechanism, gallery, flame spreader and associated fittings required to produce and control the flame. Depending on the lamp\'s design, the assembly may also support the chimney and glass shade. Original burner assemblies are an important indicator of authenticity and quality, and surviving examples bearing the manufacturer\'s marks can significantly enhance the historical and collector value of an antique lamp.
