Butterfly Table

A Butterfly Table is a traditional gateleg table distinguished by its wing-shaped supports beneath the drop leaves, which resemble the wings of a butterfly when opened. Popular during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, butterfly tables offered a practical solution for flexible dining and entertaining, allowing the leaves to be folded away when not in use. Antique examples are admired for their ingenious construction, compact design and enduring country-house charm.
