A Coal Bucket is a decorative metal container used to store and carry coal from the coal store to the fireplace. Commonly crafted from brass, copper, wrought iron or painted steel, antique coal buckets were produced in a variety of forms ranging from simple utilitarian designs to richly decorated Victorian examples featuring lion mask handles, repoussé decoration and swing handles. Today they remain popular as practical fireside accessories and attractive decorative objects.
