A Companion Set, also known as a Fireside Companion Set, is a coordinated collection of fireplace tools displayed on a central stand. Typically comprising a poker, tongs, shovel and brush, companion sets became increasingly popular during the Victorian period as elegant alternatives to individually stored fireside implements. Antique examples are commonly produced in brass, wrought iron or steel and remain essential accessories for traditional open fireplaces and wood-burning stoves.
