An Antique Dog Collar is a collar designed for domestic or working dogs, traditionally crafted from leather, brass or iron and often decorated with engraved nameplates, studs or protective bosses. Larger examples, particularly from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries, were sometimes fitted with spikes to protect hunting dogs from wolves or other predators.
