Etched Silver is silver decorated by using acid or chemical processes to produce finely detailed frosted patterns on its surface. Although less common than traditional hand engraving, etched silver became popular during the late Victorian and Art Deco periods for decorative tableware, cigarette cases and presentation pieces. Antique etched silver combines crisp decorative detail with a distinctive matte finish. *Related Terms*\ Art Deco Silver, Engraved Silver, Engine-Turned Silver, Silver, Sterling Silver, Tableware.
