Festoon is a decorative carved or moulded ornament depicting swags of flowers, fruit, leaves or ribbons draped in graceful curves. Originating in Classical architecture, festoons became popular in Georgian, Regency and Victorian decoration, appearing on furniture, mirrors, fireplaces and architectural features. They remain a hallmark of elegant period design.
