French Brocade

French Brocade is a luxurious woven silk fabric distinguished by raised decorative patterns created using supplementary weft threads, often incorporating metallic gold or silver yarns. Widely used for upholstery, curtains, ecclesiastical textiles and formal furnishings, French brocade became synonymous with luxury during the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Antique examples are admired for their richness, craftsmanship and elaborate designs.
