A magnificent pair of original late 19th-century French neoclassical urns, masterfully carved in richly veined marble and mounted with finely chased gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, later converted to table lamps. The urns exhibit classical form with scrolled twin handles, laurel wreath supports, and garlanded floral swags — all motifs emblematic of the Louis XVI and Empire revival styles so celebrated during the Belle Époque.
Originally conceived as purely decorative urns for a grand salon or hôtel particulier, these vessels were sympathetically adapted to electric table lamps, preserving their sculptural beauty while enhancing their function. The conversion was carefully executed with no damage to the original forms and retains the integrity of the decorative composition.
The marble is a dramatic grey-and-white breccia, likely sourced from the Alps or southern France, prized for its complex veining and subtle coloration. Each ormolu mount is crisply cast and gilded with refined neoclassical taste, seated on square plinth bases with foliate and ribbon motifs.

Very good condition, Marble bodies are structurally sound with light natural wear; no chips or cracks visible.
The lamp has been fully rewired to UK standards using quality UK fittings and has passed a PAT (Portable Appliance Test) for electrical safety. It is in safe working order and ready for immediate use.
