A superb example of skilled woodworking, this elegant table lamp presents a sleek, classical form characteristic of high-quality mid-20th century design, often referred to as Mid-Century Modern or an earlier interpretation of the period's preference for clean lines and natural materials.
The lamp is executed in solid Walnut, chosen for its rich, deep brown colour and exceptional grain structure, which is beautifully highlighted by a warm, lustrous patinated finish. The timber's natural beauty serves as the sole decorative element. The body is formed from a single piece of wood, expertly turn-turned into a stately, goblet-like form.
The design features a substantial, slightly concave-sided vase or urn shape rising from a stepped, circular domed base. A subtle, turned ring detail separates the main body from the base and a slender neck supports the brass bulb holder. The craftsmanship is evident in the precision of the turning and the smooth, flowing lines of the silhouette, creating an object that is both structurally balanced and visually pleasing.
Dating from the mid-20th Century (circa 1940 - 1960), this lamp reflects the era's appreciation for simplified forms and the celebration of natural materials over overt ornamentation. Its timeless, tapering shape ensures it integrates seamlessly into both traditional and contemporary interiors.
The lamp is presented in excellent antique condition, retaining its lovely, aged patina. The lamp has been professionally rewired
