A Blanket Chest is a large lidded storage chest traditionally used for storing blankets, linens, clothing and household textiles. Dating from the medieval period onwards, blanket chests were commonly crafted from oak, pine or walnut and often featured panelled construction, carved decoration or iron strapwork. Today they remain highly valued for both their storage capacity and decorative character.
