An imaginative interpretation of the traditional wooden stool, Mouse brings together contemporary design, expressive craftsmanship and practical everyday functionality.
Individually handcrafted by a British artisan furniture maker, this distinctive folding stool demonstrates how simple materials can be transformed into something both functional and sculptural.
The generously proportioned seat features an unusual organic outline, with softly rounded projecting corners and a gently contoured central section. Contrasting natural timber tones create a decorative composition across the surface, while the exposed layered plywood edges emphasise the construction and craftsmanship.
Beneath the seat, three elegantly shaped plywood supports form an architectural base. Their sweeping curves and rounded feet create a striking silhouette, giving the stool a sculptural quality from every angle.
The design incorporates an ingenious folding mechanism, allowing the structure to collapse into a remarkably slim profile. A small circular wooden fitting forms part of the construction, adding another carefully considered detail.
Mouse has been designed to offer versatility without compromising its distinctive appearance.
Its folding construction makes it particularly useful where occasional seating is required but permanent floor space is limited. When not in use, the stool can be folded flat for convenient storage or transportation.
Its compact proportions and lightweight construction make it suitable for a variety of interiors, including creative studios, contemporary living spaces, home offices and informal seating areas.
Beyond its practical purpose, Mouse possesses a strong decorative identity. The flowing lines, contrasting timber surfaces and unusual proportions give it the presence of a small contemporary sculpture.
Mouse forms part of our collection of individually handmade contemporary furniture, created by the same independent British artisan responsible for our OddBod and Bean chair designs.
The maker's approach combines traditional woodworking techniques with an imaginative exploration of shape, proportion and functionality.
The construction celebrates the natural character of timber, including its grain, tonal variations and the distinctive layered appearance of plywood.
The result is an original piece of design-led furniture that offers individuality, craftsmanship and everyday usefulness.

This is a newly made, handcrafted stool, presented in new condition.
The natural timber displays individual grain patterns, colour variations and distinctive layered plywood edges, which are intentional characteristics of the materials and design.
The contrasting tones and shaped contours form part of the stool's original appearance.
As an individually handmade piece, subtle variations in the timber and finishing details are characteristic of artisan craftsmanship rather than signs of previous use.

As heritage craftsmen and antique specialists, we believe in preserving the authenticity and integrity of each piece. Original finishes, patina, wear, and signs of age are retained wherever possible, as these elements contribute to both character and historical significance.
When restoration, rewiring, repairs, or conservation work is required, it is undertaken sympathetically using traditional techniques and materials appropriate to the period of the piece. Our philosophy is one of careful stewardship rather than unnecessary restoration, ensuring antiques remain both functional and historically respectful.
The result is a collection of pieces that have been thoughtfully prepared, allowing future owners to enjoy them with confidence while preserving their unique story and character.
