Buckle Decoration refers to ornamental motifs inspired by belt buckles, straps or ribbon ties, commonly used in furniture, silver, ceramics and decorative arts during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Particularly associated with the Georgian, Neoclassical and Sheraton styles, buckle decoration often symbolised refinement and craftsmanship, appearing as carved, cast or inlaid embellishments on chair backs, mirrors, picture frames and cabinet furniture.
