A Decanter Label, also known as a bottle ticket, is a decorative label traditionally suspended from the neck of a decanter to identify its contents, such as Port, Sherry, Brandy or Whisky. Produced from the eighteenth century onwards, antique decanter labels were crafted in silver, silver plate, Sheffield plate and, occasionally, ivory or mother-of-pearl. Fine examples often feature engraved inscriptions, ornate borders and decorative chains, making them highly collectable pieces of antique silver. *Related Terms*\ Bottle Ticket, Decanter, Sheffield Plate, Silver, Tableware, Wine.
