Felt is a non-woven textile created by compressing and matting natural fibres, most commonly wool, using heat, moisture and pressure. Traditionally used for table coverings, protective linings, hats, upholstery and decorative applications, felt has long been valued for its durability and insulating properties. Antique felt-covered surfaces are often found on writing desks, card tables and jewellery boxes.
