French Faience refers to tin-glazed earthenware produced in France from the sixteenth century onwards, particularly in centres such as Rouen, Nevers, Moustiers and Strasbourg. Celebrated for its colourful hand-painted decoration and refined craftsmanship, French faience includes plates, chargers, vases and decorative objects inspired by Italian maiolica and Dutch Delftware. Antique examples are highly prized by collectors.
