Hungarian Secession is the Hungarian interpretation of the Art Nouveau movement, flourishing between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Influenced by traditional Hungarian folk art alongside flowing organic forms, the style is characterised by colourful ceramics, stylised floral decoration, geometric motifs and innovative architectural design. Leading architects and designers sought to establish a distinctive national artistic identity while embracing modern craftsmanship.
