Crackle Glass is decorative glass characterised by a network of fine surface cracks created by rapidly cooling hot glass in water before reheating it to seal the outer surface. The process produces a distinctive textured appearance while maintaining structural strength. Crackle glass has been produced since the Renaissance and enjoyed renewed popularity during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries for vases, bowls, lighting and ornamental objects.
