English Baroque

English Baroque is an architectural and decorative style that flourished during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, characterised by grandeur, symmetry and dramatic ornamentation. Influenced by Continental Baroque yet more restrained in expression, it is closely associated with architects such as Sir Christopher Wren, Sir John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor. English Baroque architecture is recognised for its monumental façades, domes, bold stonework and richly detailed interiors.
