Glue Sizing

Glue Sizing is the traditional process of applying a dilute animal glue solution to porous surfaces such as wood, canvas or plaster before painting, gilding or applying gesso. The treatment seals the surface, improves adhesion and helps ensure a stable foundation for decorative finishes. Glue sizing remains an essential technique in conservation, restoration and traditional craftsmanship.
