Grand Tour refers to the educational journey undertaken by wealthy European travellers during the seventeenth, eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, particularly through Italy and Greece. Travellers collected sculptures, bronzes, marbles, mosaics and other works inspired by Classical antiquity, shaping European taste and creating one of the most influential collecting movements in the history of decorative arts.
