Hammered Brass describes brass that has been textured by repeated hand hammering to create a decorative surface finish. The technique strengthens the metal while producing attractive patterns that catch and reflect light. Hammered brass became especially popular during the Arts and Crafts movement and is commonly found on lighting, trays, bowls, planters and decorative objects.
