An imposing and exceptionally high-quality late 19th-century French table lamp, recently sourced from a private residence in central Paris. Designed in the Neoclassical taste, the lamp is modeled as a grand Corinthian column, featuring a beautifully veined honey-onyx shaft of substantial proportions.
The column is topped with a finely chased ormolu (gilt bronze) Corinthian capital, displaying crisp acanthus leaf detail. It rests upon a stepped brass plinth base, providing a solid and stately silhouette. Originally a high-status oil lamp, it has been sympathetically converted for electricity. The marriage of translucent stone and radiant gilding makes this an ideal focal piece for a grand sideboard, console, or library desk.
Stunning lamp that is not only in excellent working condition but has also been meticulously cleaned and rewired to ensure optimal performance. Includes 3 core braided fabric cable, lamp holder, and a UK 3 pin plug. Additionally, has undergone a PAT inspection to guarantee its safety and compliance with electrical standards.
